Fishbone Diagrams is developed by Dr.Kaoru Ishikawa, Tokyo 1943. This diagram, also know as “Ishikawa Diagram”, can be used to identify the potential root causes of a problem in any industry. This diagram is used in process improvement methods to identify all of the contributing root causes likely to be causing a problem. The Fishbone chart that consist of Fish head that represent the effect and the fish skeleton representing causes is the beginning step in the screening process.
Since there can be a number of causes to the problem, implementing/testing the solution is necessary to see if it is the real root cause(s). This methodology can be used on any kind of problem in any industry and can be customized according the circumstances.
